I do not take a full tutorial for this tree stump cake but I'll requite yous the bones instructions and I promise - it'll come up together and then easily!
Over the past month, I've taught iv classes with most 30 students how to make this cake and at the end, they were all surprised at how well THEY did! Their cakes were beautiful and most of them had no experience with cake decorating.
So, showtime up - you'll need ii layers of 6-inch cake on an 8" cake lath. I like to bake my cakes in Magic Line Pans. You'll also need some vanilla and chocolate buttercream (recipes linked below).
Hither are my most popular cake & frosting recipes:
- Vanilla Cake
- Chocolate Cake
- White Almond Sour Cream Cake
- Vanilla Buttercream
- Chocolate Buttercream
So stack the cakes, and then fill and crumb coat them. After that, tint a small amount of vanilla buttercream with a drop of ivory coloring or a tiny flake of cocoa pulverisation and then comprehend the acme of the cake and smooth information technology.
It doesn't have to be perfectly smooth because next, you're going to use a fork or toothpick to make lines for the rings of the tree. The easiest thing to do is put the cake on a good turntable and spin the cake while you hold your fork or toothpick in ane position so that it makes lines in the buttercream as you lot turn it.
Next, I crumb-coated the outsides of the cake with chocolate buttercream. Later, I used a Wilton 1M tip to pipe lines upwards the side. I similar to pull the frosting handbag/tip directly upward when I get to the top so that the bark of the tree comes up a niggling college above the tree rings.
My final touches for this cake were a fondant pumpkin and some edible fall leaves. Here are the details for those:
I take a full tutorial for How to Make a Fondant Pumpkin here. For this cake, I used Tootsie Rolls for the stem but using whole cloves is a great alternative and it smells so good - just like Fall!

And concluding, I added a few of these edible autumn leaves that I found on Amazon. They're actually pretty and work perfectly on this block. They'd also be great for cupcake toppers or to use on Autumn cookies if yous accept orders for those.
