Nintendo Dominates NPD Hardware Charts, Switch Sells 2 Million in US

The NPD Group will soon release their sales data for September, and it seems Nintendo is once once again sitting pretty atop the hardware charts. NPD haven't dropped their full numbers still, but Nintendo got the boasting started early on with a printing release highlighting their latest strong hardware numbers:

"In September, the Nintendo Switch organisation was over again the top-selling current-generation console hardware, according to the NPD Group. This marks the third directly month that Nintendo Switch has been No. one, and the fifth fourth dimension overall in the 7 months since its launch. Nintendo Switch has already surpassed 2 million units sold in the U.Southward. alone, and has notwithstanding to go through its start vacation shopping flavour.

When combined with the Nintendo 3DS family unit of systems and the plug-and-play Super Nintendo Amusement System: Super NES Classic Edition system, Nintendo systems claimed ii-thirds of the calendar month's total video game hardware sales."

Impressive! It would be interesting to know exactly how many SNES Classic Edition units Nintendo sold in September, but the company prefers to play information technology cagey with its retro consoles. As of June thirty, Nintendo has sold 4.vii million Switch units worldwide, and has projected they'll sell x meg this fiscal year (which ends March 31, 2018). If these sales go on up, they should accept no problem hitting (and surpassing) their target.

Nintendo's September software sales weren't quite equally impressive, but they did accept several exclusives in the top xx. These include Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle at #vii, Metroid: Samus Returns at #eight, The Fable of Zelda: Breath of the Wild at #x, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at #11. Dainty to see Metroid make the list.

The NPD Group's QC process highlighted a data issue within digital data for Sept 2017. Equally a result, data volition not deliver today, Oct 19.
